I photographed this boy near the corner of Winthrop and Ainslie in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood during the mid-1970s. This area was the center of Latin King activity in Uptown during that era. The boy looked as though he was auditioning for the Kings. Or maybe he was doing his best Frank Sinatra ratpack imitation. The rakish hat makes it a little hard to tell what look he was going for.
