I call this photo “Belly Laugh” for obvious reasons. I took this photo just before Christmas in 1975 along Broadway in Chicago’s Uptown Neighborhood. The poor man was down on his luck and missing many of his teeth but still had a sense of humor. He told me jokes the whole time I was photographing him. Shortly after I took this photo, a friend of his arrived. The two of them hugged and went into a bar with their dog. They were not stressed out by Christmas shopping; they were simply feeling the holiday cheer.
