In 1976, Winthrop and Ainslee was the center of Latin King activity in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. Many of the shots in this portfolio were taken in that vicinity. This graffiti covered house, in particular, seemed to be a favorite hangout for Kings and kids in the neighborhood. The address was 4908 North Winthrop. It looks very different today. The house is gone and a nice looking brownstone sits on this location. The graffiti painted on the front of the house contains the names of Latin Kings – either their street names or real names.
