I photographed this woman at Wilson and Broadway in 1974 just before Christmas. She had been shopping in one of the stores there and dropped her change in a Salvation Army bucket on the way out. She let me take several shots of her. In all of them she was very tight lipped. I asked her why. She smiled and showed me that she was missing her front teeth. I didn’t ask why. But this was not uncommon in Uptown during the mid-1970s.
