I found this lady returning to her apartment from a shopping trip on Wilson west of the El near the fire station. When I asked her if I could take her picture, she proudly posed like a fashion model as if she were on a Paris runway, modeling her Goodwill coat and babushka. After developing the film, the negative was so hard for me to look at that I threw it in some bleach. As I watched the image start to dissolve, I had second thoughts. I pulled it out of the bleach and threw it back in some fixer. The bleach, however, had partially reduced the silver halides in the negative, giving this image an ethereal, almost dreamlike quality.
