This baker owned a bakery on Wilson but lived in the 7400 block of North Winchester in Rogers Park. I first saw him outside his shop feeding bread scraps to pigeons. He impressed me as a very happy man. He invited me into his shop and gave me a sample of his cookies. The cakes and breads looked very impressive. Even in Uptown of the 1970s, people still celebrated birthdays and this baker did a booming business.
