This was one of the few bakeries in Uptown during the mid-1970s. It was on Wilson and called Barney’s Bakery. That’s Barney in the window keeping an eye on his baked goods and passing customers. Barney actually lived in Rogers Park. Barney was a better baker than speller. Note the sign in the lower right. Also note the prices compared to today’s! Just looking at this image brings back some of the wonderful smells emanating from Barney’s Bakery.
