I took this photo at the corner of Wilson and Magnolia on 4/22/76. The notes attached to my contact sheet tell me that people in the neighborhood alleged that the building was “bombed.” Their word, not mine. Only a pile of rubble was left. There’s a little L-shaped strip center today where this building once stood. It houses a Subway and some small restaurants.
If anyone knows what really happened here, please contact me so that I can update this caption. I can’t seem to find anything about this online. It might have been a gas leak. Then again…
