I found this young man at what was then the new Sunnyside Mall in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood in 1976. The mall was just finishing construction (see other post), and neighborhood kids came here to ride their bikes without fear of traffic. Note the keys around his neck and the patches on his pants. My guess is that his parents worked and that he was on his own during the days. His pants may have had holes in the pockets, requiring him to keep the keys to his apartment on the chain around his neck.
