This image shows the east side of Broadway, north of Leland, in 1976. This has to be one of the more magnificent buildings in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. The building itself hasn’t changed much, but the tenants have. Back then, Majestic Men’s Wear, Knox Jarman Swank, K.W. Trading, Mason Income Tax, Uptown Records Tapes & Phono, Uptown Camera, and Florsheim Shoes occupied street level. Today, everything has changed – even the Uptown Bank in the background (left) toward Lawrence. Note the seven digit phone number on the bank with the UP (Uptown) prefix.
