A reader wrote in asking if I had any shots of Byron in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. This is a shot taken from the intersection of Byron and Alta Vista looking east on Byron toward the El, a couple blocks down the street. (Enlargement shows the street sign in the middle of the shot.) The photo was taken on April 13, 1975. Clicking on the link above will open a window showing you the same scene in Google Maps Street View today. Note that the trees have grown so much that the el and background buildings are no longer visible.
