This man sold cars on North Broadway at Arnie Yusim Chevrolet in Uptown back in the mid-1970s. They made it remarkably easy to buy a car. I took this shot while I was roaming the neighborhood in cutoff jeans and a gray athletic T-shirt with several holes it. Hey, I was trying to fit in with the neighborhood! I also had a beard in those days. Perhaps it was the camera that made him take me seriously. At any rate, he let me take drive home a car that day and try it out for the weekend without making a deposit. This was in 1976 and the American car industry was in dire condition due to the OPEC oil embargo which quadrupled gasoline prices the previous year. Few people were buying new cars then.
