I photographed this distinguished commuter in an Uptown ‘L’ stop. He was buying a newspaper before heading home. In 1973 when I took this shot, many men still wore hats, but by the end of the decade they would disappear except at sporting events. For many years between then and now, the thick dark glasses would have dated this shot. However, all fashions go in circles and this type of frame is making a comeback.
