In 1975, these four Chicago Uptown kids were just hanging out in an alley swapping stories when I came across them. The instant I put the camera up to my eye, they felt an obligation to “look cool.” To kids in this age group, that often means appearing to be disaffected or uninterested. The difference between their reactions is priceless. Two laughed. One sneered. And the fourth gave me his best “are you kidding me” look.
