As difficult as life was in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood during the mid-1970’s, kids still walked to school. These two crossing guards lived on Kenmore. I photographed them on Kenmore and Wilson, I believe. I’m not sure what school they went to. If anyone knows, please contact me so that I can update this caption. The date on my contact sheet says 9/5/74, so this photograph was probably taken on one of the first days in the new school year.
