I took this shot on 9/4/1974 on Leland between Sheridan and Kenmore. The resale shop was operated by Crusaders of Ill. The Ill stood for Illinois. They often put furniture out on the street to draw attention to the store, but they turned this couch so that it faced the store – probably to discourage people from sleeping or sitting on it. I had walked a long way that day and I could have used a place to rest. Note the spelling of “Radio” in the window; it says “Raido.” My thanks to a reader who wrote in with the location of this store!
