I watched this long-billed curlew feeding for more than half an hour. Curlews spend most of their lives in a narrow band of sea shore in constantly breaking waves. Taken at the Audubon Society’s Bolivar Flats Sanctuary on the Bolivar Peninsula with a Nikon D4, Nikkor 800mm lens and 1.2x tele-extender (effective focal length = 1000mm).
