These men were waiting for a friend to come out of a bar that was behind the man on the right. They didn’t go in to meet him because one had his daughter with him. They allowed me to take several photos. This is my favorite. It shows a little girl in the safe harbor of her father’s massive arms as she stared toward me. I suspect she felt a bit intimidated by my size but was counting on her father for protection. By this age, Uptown kids in the mid-1970s had already developed some healthy skepticism.
