Two male great egrets spar with each other in midair, vying for the attention of a female. During the fight, they clawed each other with their talons, poked each other in the stomach with their heads, and tried to knock each other out of the air. Alligators waited below. Unfortunately for the alligators, the loser managed to fly away. The winner won the right to mate with the contested female.
