I’m not sure which tribe this man came from. He was from Alaska and went by the name of Eskimo Joe. Like many Native Americans in the mid-1970s, he came to Chicago looking for work and found wine on Wilson Avenue. I don’t know much more about him. From the bandage on his chin, I would say that he had recently been in a fight. The suits worn by many people on the streets in Uptown surprised me at first. Then I realized that they were most likely purchased at the Goodwill store or some other resale shop.
