This male was returning to its nest with a stick when it spotted another male attempting to steal his mate. He swooped out of the sky and rained fury on the interloper. Egrets have powerful bills that they use to fend off interlopers, but they also use their feet which have razor-sharp claws. Usually, the interloper will flee before serious injury occurs.
