Just south of Arches NP, along the Colorado River and US 128 (all visible in the background) lies Castle Valley. At the east end of the valley lie the Fisher Towers, a mecca for rock climbers. I have a friend who climbed the largest tower, which is called The Titan. After getting to the top, a thunderstorm struck which made descent impossible. He told me that he thought he would die there that night as the lightning flashed around him. Luckily, he lived to tell the story of a harsh and unforgiving landscape.
