From 1974 to 1984, one of the most popular shows on television was a sitcom called Happy Days. It starred a character called The Fonz. The Fonz wore aviator sunglasses and his trademark gesture was giving people the thumbs up sign.
Kids loved him. He had a tough guy exterior, but was lovable inside. He was the type of guy who would try to do good, but hated the idea of being seen as doing good. It would spoil his tough-guy image. I think this kid had a little bit of the Fonz in him. The photo was taken in 1976 at Winthrop and Ainslie.
