This young man who went by the street name of “Hound Dog” told me that he belonged to a gang called the Gaylords. In Uptown during the 1970s, Sunnyside was the headquarters for Gaylords. This shot was taken while the Sunnyside Mall was still under construction. Note the broken window in the background. I’m not sure what the package in his hands is. He was gripping it tightly and looking around nervously when I took this shot. Another Gaylord named “The Drifter” was sitting to his left out of frame. The shot was taken on 4/26/1975.
