Seconds before snapping this shot, these two barefoot girls had walked down a block of bars just west of the ‘L’ on Wilson. When they attempted to cross Wilson at Racine, they almost got run over. A man rushed out of one of the bars to their rescue. He stopped traffic while they crossed the street. They continued on as if nothing had ever happened; meanwhile, the hearts of all those who witnessed the scene were pounding. The girls were lucky it was still early in the afternoon.
