I took this shot of a great egret banking in flight at the Audubon Society’s Smith Oaks Sanctuary in High Island, Texas. This was among the first shots taken with my new Nikkor 800mm lens. I had the 1.25x teleconverter attached. I took the shot on a heavily overcast day as fog was rolling in. High Island is on the Texas Gulf Coast about 30 miles east of Galveston.
