These two girls were hanging out together on their front porch, just having fun when I walked by. A popular pastime for residents during the mid-1970s was to sit on stoops and watch the parade of humanity walk down the street. In this case, a young photographer (me) walked up and asked if I could take their picture. They gladly obliged. Many people could afford television or air conditioning, so in summer, the front stoop was the place to see and be seen. It was the best entertainment in town … and free.
