The Uptown Latin Kings in the 1970s liked being photographed with their weapons, especially in front of Latin King murals. I couldn’t resist the symbolism of him holding the gun next to the heart in the mural – “I heart guns.” Perhaps they felt it would send a signal to rival gangs. This Latin King went by the street name of Pinhead.
