I photographed these Hungarian kids on Christmas Day in a small Uptown apartment at 1248 Wilson in 1974. They were all from the same family though I am not sure they are all brothers and sisters. The oldest girl (holding the baby in her arm) appeared to have at least one child of her own. My uncertainty is a consequence of the fact that they spoke little English and I speak no Eastern European languages. I photographed this family on several occasions. They did not appear to own a camera and were always eager for the prints I would give them. Notice how all the boys were into martial arts. Although the family had a Christmas tree, I did not see any presents underneath it. This could have been because they already opened them, but I did not see any toys around the apartment.
