This young man belonged to the Latin Kings street gang. I saw him frequently on the streets of Uptown during the mid-1970s. He was always eager to have me take his photograph and I always obliged. Whether he was the toughest guy in the gang or not, he certainly tried to appear that way. When you were just talking to him, he seemed like a normal young man. But the minute the camera came up, he assumed “the pose.”
