As these two Latin Kings gave their gang salute in front of their mural, I was reminded of the honor guards at Buckingham Palace or the White House. Well, almost! I have a vivid imagination. But there IS a striking resemblance in the posture and symmetry of these two Latin King honor guards to traditional military honor guards. The image was taken near Winthrop and Ainslie, which was the center of Latin King activity in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood during the mid-1970s.
