This is a section of Canyonlands National Park called the Maze. It stretches for miles and explains why Utah represented such a formidable barrier to pioneers heading west. The soft sandstone was once the bed of a vast inland sea that was eroded as it was uplifted. Taken from an airplane with the Nikon D5 in shutter priority mode set to 1/8000th of a second.
