I photographed this man near the corner of Kenmore and Wilson in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood several times during the mid-1970s. He came to Chicago looking for work and listed his address as “c/o Indian Employment Service” on Wilson Avenue. He told me that members of virtually every tribe in America were represented in Uptown and that Uptown had America’s single largest concentration of Native Americans. After a while, I stopped seeing him and wondered if he ever found work. If someone knows what happened to him, please let me know.
