The foothills of the Smokies, near the northwestern border of Great Smoky Mountain National Park, contained a spider web of poorly mapped and unmarked gravel roads in 1973. Only the locals could navigate them and I think they wanted to keep it that way. They led a remarkably secluded life style. This was one of the nicer homes that I found in those hills. Like many homes in the area, it appeared that this house expanded several times. You can see evidence of different types of construction.
