So what’s this image doing here? No, it’s not a mistake. I wanted to call your attention to a new portfolio called Appalachia. This is the first shot in it. Many Uptown residents during the 1970s came from Appalachia. As I got to know them, I wondered what could possibly make them leave homes, friends and families for the delights of Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood, so I packed up my cameras to find out.
These images will help explain that mystery. Read more about the series under the About heading or in my 10/16/13 blog post.
Don’t worry. I will continue to post more Uptown images. I just thought folks with roots in Appalachia might enjoy these too!
