I was photographing this Latin King on the front porch of his apartment when suddenly he pulled back his jacket to let me know that he was carrying a concealed weapon. The image was shot near Winthrop and Ainslie in Uptown in the mid-1970s. The Latin Kings at this time were a culturally integrated gang despite their name.
