This man was muttering to and hugging himself in front of a halfway house at Wilson and Hazel. He didn’t seem violent, but he did seem agitated for reasons that were not clear. Periodically, he would close his eyes and rock, as if trying to remember something from the distant past. The photo was taken in 1975. The shirt he was wearing looked more reminiscent of the Sixties than the Seventies. From the fit, I’m guessing that he bought it at one of the many resale shops that did a thriving business in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood during that era.
