In Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood during the mid-1970s, it was not uncommon to see people who were drunk or drugged on the streets. I’m not sure what this man’s story was, but he was clearly “out of it.” I found him outside of a bar on Wilson. He could barely stand. Shortly after I took this photo, he somehow made it to the street and sat down on the curb where he passed out. Sights like these were so common in that era that no one paid him any attention.
