“Hey, look awake out there.” In 1974, I took this shot of three boys playing baseball behind a building in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. Someone was passed out in their outfield. Undeterred and unphased, they calmly played ball around him. Note how the boys’ dog stands vigil between them and the sleeping man.

The building appears to be the Chicago Pumping Station located at Wilson and Marine Drive, south of Weiss Hospital. It extends to Clarendon. Here is what it looks like from Wilson in Google Maps street view today. Thanks to a reader for helping me ID the location!
