This young woman seemed genuinely happy to me despite some often depressing surroundings. When I took her picture she stared straight at me through a shock of hair that slid down over her face. She made no attempt to remove it. It was almost as if she was playing peekaboo with the camera. She seemed quietly confident that I would be able to capture her inner strength despite the obstacle.
