This lady lived at 3616 Pine Grove in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. I photographed her on 12/28/74 while she was out shopping in the neighborhood. We talked for several minutes and I took almost a dozen shots of her. She was very wary of people walking by us. Her mood changed from shot to shot as different types of people passed us. A wino would trigger a dour, stern look. Kids would trigger happy looks. Like many respectable Uptown residents, she was concerned about trends in the neighborhood.
