This man was a Latin King in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood during the 1970s. He went by the street name of Pinhead. I’m not sure how he got that nickname. He always wore a perfectly styled Afro. I photographed Pinhead on numerous occasions, sometimes alone, sometimes with his gang, and sometimes with his girlfriend. They all lived near the corner of Winthrop and Ainslie. A woman wrote me recently to say that this man was the father she never knew. He died (was murdered) when she was just three years old.
