I put the title of this image in quotes because these two women were not genetically related. However, they were definitely sisters in a platonic sense. They shared the same dreams, the same troubles, and the same social group. They even hung out with the same men. They definitely felt a sense of solidarity as you can see by the clasped hands and determined looks. Here you see them in front of some Harrison Gents graffiti. I took this photo in the fall of 1976 near Winthrop and Ainslie.
