Near Wilson and Kenmore in 1974, I found this woman sitting on the street on top of her laundry bag. When I approached with my camera, she turned her head to avoid being recognized in a photo. The nearest laundromat was a block away. I never did learn why she was sitting there. She could have been resting, but my sense was that she had reached the end of her emotional rope and was contemplating how she came to be on Wilson Avenue in Uptown with so many derelicts during the mid-1970s.
