This woman lived with her husband and cow on the Tennessee side of Great Smoky Mountain National Park, in the hills just west of Cosby. While exploring the back roads one day, I found their small farm, stopped, and introduced myself. They invited me to have lunch with them and I took several shots of the couple with their farm animals.

They lived in a log cabin that did not have electricity. She milked the cow by hand, then churned the milk and made some butter which we used for lunch that day. She and her husband were kind and humble people that shared their home and food with a stranger. They made a lasting impression on me.
