While walking down the street in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood one day, I saw a group of jovial kids coming toward me with a baseball bat.  I asked them if I could take a picture. The kid with the bat immediately struck a Mark McGwire pose (years before Mark McGwire became a phenom). The other kids crowded around just so they could be in the shot too. I often look at this shot and wonder whether their innocent enthusiasm survived the neighborhood.
