I photographed these three girlfriends several times within ten minutes on a hot summer day in Uptown in the mid-1970s. They seemed happy just to have their icy treats and each others’ friendship. The girl on the right contacted me in 2013 – 39 years later. She said, all three women remained friends. Adversity can forge strong bonds that last a lifetime.
