I’ve always been fascinated by the geometry of El tracks. Historically, businesses benefit from proximity to mass transit. According to the CTA, 128,000 people per weekday ride the north side red line. I’m not sure what it was in 1975 when I took this shot, however there certainly were bustling businesses underneath these tracks. The view is from the west side of Broadway looking south toward Wilson, I believe. Enlargement shows the Walgreen’s to the left that used to be on the corner of Wilson and Broadway, plus the Bissets Department store that used to be across from it on the south side of Wilson.
