This family lived on Winthrop just north of Ainslie in Chicago’s Uptown Neighborhood. The kids belong to the couple sitting on the couch to the left. The other two adults were family friends who lived in the same apartment building. This apartment was comfortable and cozy. It was well decorated in the styles of the time. I photographed a number of families in this building on this day in the fall of 1976. The couple on the left was kind enough to introduce me to them. Neighbors in Uptown stuck together and looked after each other.
