Photographing from the air reveals many scenes inaccessible from the ground (unless you’re into mountaineering with heavy camera equipment). Driving up Canada’s Highway 1 from Calgary toward Banff, you would never know that scenery like this existed just beyond the ridges that you could see from the road. The hour that I spent photographing from the helicopter I rented certainly ranks as one of the most exciting and productive hours in my life.
